While Mr. Gearhart was gone to Indianapolis Dr. Vernon came to our class as a guest speaker. He gave a presentation called "Social Media Mantra." The presentation made me realize that that all the time I spend on Facebook is not a waste of time. It is important to get your message out to the community no matter what it might be. Vernon's Rule of Thirds is a great method. Everyone can be an advocate for agriculture by having your post be 1/3 social (about you), 1/3 pointing to other links (fun stuff), and then 1/3 something authentic about agriculture (ex. trivia facts).
Dr. Vernon made it clear that communicating is a huge factor in today's society and that everyone should have a Facebook and/or twitter account in order to stay connected.

Goal at Cal Poly
Why am I really here at Cal Poly, like what am I doing? This question tends to cross my mind quite often. The thought of this really does scare me because I have a hard time answering the question. Some days I feel like I know exactly what my plans are and then others I'm completely lost on what I want to do. What I do know is that at least while I'm here at Cal Poly I need to make it completely worth my while. Meaning put everything into my work and schooling. I would have to say that I have not quite followed through with my plans though. I have kind of gotten off track but I do realize that I need to get back to that mind set. I realize its okay for me to take the time to figure things out since I'm a freshmen but to much time is a waste. So in terms I guess my goal right now as a freshmen is to figure what exactly I want to do in college here at Cal Poly.

Reflection on Communication
When people hear the word "communication" it can sometimes be intimidating. Really all it is, is the act of communicating. People do this throughout every day of their life's without necessarily even knowing it. Sending text messages, e-mails, phone calls, and just talking to someone on the street are all forms of communication. Communication is essential to our daily life's but not everyone knows how to communicate effectively. Communication is a skill that can always be worked on. It is a skill needed in the workplace, at home, with our friends, and even with strangers. When it comes to communication, it is something that can always be worked on.

Journalism 205
When I signed up for Journalism 205 I really didn't know what to expect. I took the intro class with Mr. Gearhart so I knew I was going to like having him as a professor again but other than that I just wasn't sure. I'm trying to decide if I want to switch majors to Ag. Business. Right now I'm taking the business calculus class along with this one to see what is really for my best interest. I'm stuck in between them both.
I don't think I have any biases on agriculture but by saying that I'm sure I do and just don't realize it. One thing I hope to get out of this class is to try to find out if I do have a bias or not.
